About

The whole impetus of the enterprise is the perception that what really exists is a single world of ideas, which comes to us divided by the abstracting force of circumstances.

This is a blog about the work of the twentieth century British philosophers RG Collingwood and Michael Oakeshott; in the future I may expand the scope a bit by posting on the ‘critical theorist’ TW Adorno too.

As for myself, in the summer of 2008 I completed a PhD thesis on Collingwood; before that, I did a masters degree that featured a somewhat clunky dissertation on Collingwood and Oakeshott’s political philosophies.  Naturally, this qualifies me to pontificate on the two men’s work as much as anyone else.  Nevertheless, it will hopefully stop me from entirely talking out from where the sun doesn’t shine.
